From Cancer Diagnosis to Creating a Brand
Twin Sisters
Being twins is a truly a gift. A built-in best friend to navigate life together. When Brinlee faced a stage 4 cancer diagnosis at the age of 21, it was a shocking. Everything changed. Especially our perspective on life.
With this new reality we've learned the value of time and the importance of truly living...

It started with a cancer diagnosis
On February 10, 2023, Brinlee was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. She was 21 years old. Her plans and dreams were put on hold while she fought to stay alive.
Twin Sisters
Being twins is a unique opportunity to live life along side one another. Every life milestone is done together. We even got married 2 months apart. We shared everything. But we couldn't share this.
Mariela had to watch on the sidelines as Brinlee went into multiple surgeries and over 30 rounds of intense chemotherapy.
During Brinlee's treatments, we decided to create something we could share again. A brand that would connect people going through hard challenges. The Port Studio.
Meaningful gifts for people going through hard times. Clothing and accessories that inspire people.
Throughout our journey with cancer, we have learned the value of time and the importance of truly living. Our mission is to inspire people to live every moment you have. That's why on each of our sleeves we embroider the word live. Because all we are guaranteed is this moment. Today.
The Port Studio
"The Port" isn’t just a reference to a cancer port—it also reflects our roots in Port Angeles, home to a shipping port. Just as a port connects and facilitates journeys, our brand represents the connection between comfort and support. We create products that uplift and encourage. A reminder that no one is alone on their journey and to live intentionally every moment you are given.
